Galaxy K Zoom arrives in India for Rs 29,999: Top 5 features we love

Samsung releases its second installment of the camera centric phone, Galaxy K Zoom in India for Rs 29,999

Samsung released their second camera centric smart phone, Galaxy K Zoom which they had announced earlier this year. Its ancestor the Galaxy S4 Zoom was brandished for bearing inappropriate dimension with the lens unit bulging out. Samsung has treated the K Zoom with the leather like finishing seen on the S5 making it easier to hold the device, unlike glossy one seen on its ancestor.
So does Samsung K Zoom make a good buy? Here are our top 5 fav features, that make it worth considering:
1. Retractable Lens with 10X Zoom- The retractable lens offers an incredible 10x Optical Zoom (Not to be confused with the Digital Zoom) without actually increasing the size of the device. This is one of the most prominent features as the Optical Zoom is about actually getting closer to the actual image as opposed to the Digital Zoom where the image is cropped losing the quality.
2. A 20.7 Megapixel BSI CMOS Sensor- BSI or the Backside Illumination Sensors are elementary in allowing more light to pass through the sensor rendering the images well lit. BSI makes sure that the light from the lens hits the photo diodes first and then the metal circuit which is placed backside of the photo diodes. The essence of this feature is that the images will be well lit naturally.
3. Xenon Flash- Xenon flash units ceased to being used in the smart phone because they needed more space and also drained the battery. It was replaced with LEDs that were smaller and consumed less power. However the LEDs burst of light has a short range and the light scattered is not bright enough leading to a grainy image with extra noise. The Xenon flash in the Galaxy K Zoom is perfect for those night shots and also results in crispier images.
4. OIS- Optical Image Stabilization is a very important feature, specially as we tend to inch towards high end photography. OIS counters any untowardly motion of either the camera or the subject such that the effect is cancelled resulting in a blur free image with sharper contrast and depth. If you get your daily dose of kick by shooting exotic cars down the lane or the nimble Cheetahs in the wild then this feature in the Galaxy Zoom K ensures that you will capture the perfect shot.
5. Pro Suggest- Samsung has devised an algorithm somewhat similar to what we saw in the Galaxy Note 3 that detects the shape of the object, the lighting condition and the reflective property of the object and suggests filters accordingly. It sure did surprise us when the Galaxy Zoom K suggested the perfect filters for the situation which would have taken efforts and time to choose manually. Apart from these the feature like the focus tracking ensures that the auto focus mechanism tracks the objects even if it changes its positions, great for people interested in photography involving a moving subject.
