Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab S8.4 and Galaxy S10.5 in India for Rs 37,800 and Rs 44,800

Samsung launches its Galaxy S series Tablets lineup - S 8.4 and Galaxy S 10.5 in India

Samsung had recently anounced its plans of launching a new S series tablet lineup which would be a contrast to the lesser priced Tab series.
As promised the company today launched two S tablets with screen size of 8.4 inch and 10.5 inch. The 8.4 variant is priced at a staggering Rs 37,800 and the larger 10.5 inch sibling at Rs 44,800. The S tablets can be prebooked but the delivery will start only mid-july.
Samsung with its due diligence has churned out a iPad killer and has also gone a notch up by bundling it up with innovative features that were alien to the tablet segment until now. The tablets house a QWXGA super AMOLED display which dazzles with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels and the viewing angles are very good with no fluctuations in the display intensity.
The Adaptive display works flawlessly and adjusts the brightness accurately synching it up with the ambient light.
The best part is that Samsung spared S series of Tablets from their usual tacky gloss finish and instead treated it with the puckered texture on the back ( similar to the Galaxy S5) with aluminum strips running along the periphery of the tablet which add a tinge of elegance. S series has an appealing form factor with the thickness of 6.6mm making it the slimmest tablet on earth (iPad Air is 7.5mm thick)
The S series tablets are powered by a Qualcomm processor for the international version and the usual pair of Quad  core Exynos (1.9GHz Cortex A15+1.3 GHz Cortex A7) powerhouse for the Indian variant. Features like the fingerprint sensor and the heart rate sensor which made a debut in Galaxy S5 are also included.
Samsung has introduced a new feature called Side Sync which lets you see your smartphone screen on the tablet and also receive calls from the phone, the catch though is that you should own a Samsung Galaxy S5. The 8MP camera is highly capable. The tablet comes in a 16GB and a 32 GB varient along with a memory card slot which supports upto 128GB. Korean giant has gone the extra mile to straddle it with the calling and 3G facility, something which Apple distances itself from.
Wrapping it up
Samsung looks a tad too keen on closing the gap between itself and arch rival Apple. The S series of tablets come at a time when the tablets are being dismissed as an unworthy item to posses only shows how strong headed Samsung are with their entire upmarket tablet strategy.
The S8.5 and the S10.5 cost a little less than the iPad Air and try to lure consumers with features like the calling facility and gimmicks like the heart rate sensor.
But does the S lineup have enough to take on the Apples iPad franchise, we will find out in our review.  Stay tuned!
